NYU Statistics Club
The Nexus of Quantitative Methodology and Social Impact at New York University.
The Society for Statistics Students ("NYU Stats Club") is the official student chapter of the American Statistical Association at New York University. We foster student community, cultivate networks with NYU and NYC's broader STEM sector, and provide professional development opportunities for students.
Rigorous, methodologically grounded training.
The foundational curriculum areas span mathematical foundations, classical inference, and modern machine learning applied to social science.
Statistical Inference & Foundational Modeling
Generalized linear regression modeling, intermediate quantitative methods, frequentist and Bayesian inference models, and applied probability frameworks.
Advanced Causal Inference & Machine Learning
Specialized techniques for parsing messy data, model selection, predictive algorithms, multivariate analysis, and establishing valid causal mechanisms for complex policy evaluations.
Data Science for Social Impact
Analyzing multi-level data tracking educational equity, public health outcomes, labor markets, demographic shifts, and the structural societal effects of AI.
Survey Research & Measurement Methodology
Rigorous design of experimental and quasi-experimental frameworks, missing data strategies, sampling optimization, and psychometric validation to yield actionable insights.
The core tenets of our student organization.
Academic Consultation & Peer Advising
An organic network where first-year students connect directly with second-year peers to discuss course selection sequence, technical project debugging, and professional portfolio alignment.
Industry Panels & Events
Bringing cutting-edge researchers, data scientists, and prominent methodologists from top-tier research institutes, corporate entities, and advocacy spaces to discuss applied industry work.
